Magical Memories Travel Mentorship Program

Disney Specialist

Becoming a Certified Disney Specialist is just the tip of the iceberg in the training you will need to succeed as a Disney Travel Consultant.  If you are new to this industry, you probably have a million questions and concerns you’d like to discuss with someone who has experience.  Disney’s training is fun and exciting and it prepares you to sell Disney Destinations to your clients, but it doesn’t help you set up or run a successful travel business.  That’s where I come in.

I will teach you how and where to find your clients

I will walk you through the booking and invoicing process step-by-step

I will provide on-demand assistance during office hours – 1 hour call back window any other time

I will teach you how to provide the concierge level services your clients will demand

I will give you tips and information for how to structure and set-up your business

I will help you plan group cruises aboardDisney Cruise Line

I will help you establish a web presence and use social media to promote your business

Although we specialize in Disney, you will be able to sell any travel product a client demands

You’ll have access to Disney Agent Rate specials (when offered) for your own travel

The up-front fee for my services is $400.00; this includes:

Establishing you as an independent contractor affiliated with a host agency

Weekly phone training sessions

On demand access to help and support

E and O insurance as provided by host

The commission split for the first year, or until you’ve generated $75,000.00 in sales, is 50/50; this split is after 10% service fee is paid to host. After meeting this goal, or completing one year of training, you can choose to operate without further training or mentorship, thereby keeping all commissions to which you’re entitled after establishing yourself with the host agency of your choice, or you can elect to remain with Magical Memories with a commission split of 70/30 (70 for you, 30 for us) and we will continue to cover the above costs and fees associated with running your business.

Rant Alert:  I don’t ususally use my website/blog for this purpose, but …

Expedia … Travelocity … TravelZoo … are not full-service travel agencies!  They offer little to no direct customer support, they are not usually familiar in a personal way with the products they sell, and they don’t (can’t) help their customers plan unique and memorable vacations.  Whereas these large internet based companies may offer links to ground service providers and suitable pre/post cruise or tour hotel accommodations they don’t, because they can’t, guide their customers to the best choice for their family and hard earned vacation dollars … and the people at these large corporate sites are reps, not agents; they are trained to make bookings, that’s it!  They do not provide personal service or the right kind of client support.  These companies have customers, an agent has clients.

Furthermore, these companies cannot get the would be traveler a better deal than an agent can; the truth is, we have access to the same supplier offers they do … and what’s more, we understand the supplier offers!

I mention all of this because I was contacted yesterday by a potential client who had recently booked her WDW stay through one of the large corporate sites we have all become familiar with.  She was pleased with the price she paid until she found out that Disney occasionally offers Free Dining when staying at a WDW resort hotel – and the dates she booked  coincide with one of Disney’s Free Dining offers.  The problem is, she booked an off-site hotel to save a little money (really wanting an on-site hotel) because she didn’t know that by staying on-site her family’s meals would have been free!

She wasn’t given the information she needed to make the best use of her vacation dollars!  Although staying at a WDW resort would have cost a bit more upfront, the difference would have been more than off-set by the free meals – not to mention the convenience and whimsy her family would have experienced by staying in a Disney resort!

Why wasn’t she given the information she needed?  In all likelihood the rep she spoke to didn’t know of or understand Disney’s promotional offer.  I wanted to help her but there was simply nothing I could do.

Disney is a complex product and it changes frequently; the only way to ensure you’re getting the best value for your vacation dollars is to work with an agent who understands Disney – not only professionally, but personally as well!

I’m certainly not suggesting that travelers call their agent every time they want to book a weekend hotel stay – although they certainly can.  I am saying, however, that when booking whole vacations and/or vacation packages, tours, and cruises it is best policy to work with an agent who is familiar with the product being purchased.
